So, they've been down the street...

11102013030.jpgOnce Chorus have done their thing, the next step is bringing UltraFast Broadband (UFB) inside to get online. It is completely new, and brings fibre into the building. Often this is the first time new services have been brought in since original construction.

There is a bit involved. That's where we come in.

We take care of the process. This means we'll visit to check out what is in place, and discuss options on how and where the fibre will run.

The pictures to the right are from actual UFB installations in the area.

Why get UFB?03102013014.jpg

First up it's speed. What is known as 'the last mile' the line running in to your place is replaced with a fibre connection. Copper technology is pretty much developed as far as it can go.

With more 'on demand' and streaming services, it was fine when only a few devices were downloading. A fibre is connection is the only way to prevent slowdowns.

While there is effort in getting fibre run in, it is the way all future services are going to be delivered. We are trialling Voice services. This is not just to make your phone ring over fibre. Our voice platform includes being able to use a mobile phone as a local phone and number.

At present the true cost of installing in to a building are being offset by Crown Fibre Holdings. How long this will last for no one is saying. If you are contemplating taking up the service, then going for it while the subsidies are in place is always going to be cheaper.

We're up and running
